QualitySolicitors Lockings in W H Smith high-street deal

QualitySolicitors (a group of independent solicitors firms) has signed a deal with high-street retailer W H Smith to provide access to legal services in branches of their high street books, stationery and travel stores.

The deal means that QualitySolicitors will be present in 150 branches this summer, set to increase to 500 nationwide, fast becoming a house-hold name.

In store, a QualitySolicitors client representative will book appointments online, provide quotes for conveyancing, Wills, fixed-fee advice sessions and assist the public in accessing the appropriate services for their legal requirements. There is also a new loyalty card scheme which will provide continual benefits to the consumer.

Richard Allen, Managing Partner of QualitySolicitors Lockings based in Hull, Beverley and Hedon says: “The law profession undergoes a momentous change in October 2011, with the introduction of the so-called ‘supermarket law’. QualitySolicitors have been preparing for the changes for some time and this deal with W H Smith represents a revolution in the delivery of legal services.”

“This initiative means that the consumer can access legal services in a familiar environment, knowing that their legal requirements will be taken care of by a local law firm with a reputation for quality.”

“The legal profession can be thought of as intimidating with fees that spiral out of the client’s control. By bringing our services to the consumer – via our representatives in a more relaxed environment, the client will get all the information they need to make a decision about their legal matter. Appointments are booked online at which point our qualified solicitors deal direct with the client.”

“The fine details of the partnership will be released shortly including the proposed stores. For now, we are pleased with the progress.”

Special Christmas Cardboard Waste Collections

EAST RIDING COUNCIL is holding six special collections of cardboard across the area after Christmas.

Councillor Symon Fraser, portfolio holder for environment and planning, said:

“At Christmas, we all end up with an abundance of cardboard because of the packaging on everything from food to toys. Lots of it gets taken to our 10 household waste recycling sites over Christmas so, this time, we are taking the collections to our residents.”

The collections will be held on supermarket car parks close to recycling bring sites so that residents can recycle their glass bottles at the same time. Staff, with collection vehicles, will be at the following locations from 10am-3pm:

Wednesday, 29 December:

Beverley, Tesco,
Goole, Tesco
Bridlington, Hilderthorpe coach park, next to Tesco

Thursday, 30 December:

Hedon, Co-op
Willerby, Waitrose
Market Weighton, Tesco.
