Posted on 20 March 2009 by admin

ed-ballsEd Ball Secretary of State for Education, children and families took time out to visit  Victoria Dock Primary School to help celebrate their 10 year Birthday.

Victoria Dock School a rare but successful Private Finance Initiative (PFI) one and has been operational now for 10 years. The school was built and is maintained by The Sewell Group to a very high standard and since its opening in January 1999. The school has had to be expanded twice due to increase in children and demand.

Ed Balls commented in saying, “It was like walking into a new school today and the schools just gives off a good vibe.”  Paul Sewell the MD at The Sewell Group said “This is due to the school having a good relationship with The Sewell Group”  who also described the journeyfrom muddy brown field to present day in the DVD shown to Ed Balls and visitors.

The visit was far from a “whistle stop” visit and Ed took time to chat,  look around the school, listen to the school choir, watch a DVD about the schools journey and ask children what they thought of the school.

Rt honorable John Prescott mentioned the school to Ed Balls and hoped he could make the visit for the 10th Anniversary. The visit lasted from 12:45 to 13:45 and Ed Balls seemed to have enjoyed his time at the school and taking part in some of the lessons.

Mr Denham Kite was beaming with delight to have such an honor that both John Prescott and Ed Balls visited the school he is so proud of.
