Science & Engineering Week 2009: What the Romans did for us 03/03/2009
Hull City Council’s museums team are celebrating the start of National Science and Engineering Week with an exciting free family event.

Come along and talk to a Roman character and get hands on with real Roman objects. See how the Romans used science in warfare by making your own catapult then test how accurate it is!

Discover the secret to how Romans built strong bridges and see if you can make a super strong structure yourself, then test its strength – how much weight will it take?

The event takes place between 11.00am -3.00pm on Saturday 7th March 2009 at the Hull and East Riding Museum.

David Alcock, project co-ordinator for Hull Museums, said:

“We are delighted to be taking part in an event that uses museums collections to celebrate science and engineering in a fun and accessible way. It’s a great opportunity for families to get hands on with our collections and learn about Roman engineering”
